Dean’s biography:
Dean L. Blackburn is a life-long resident of Morgan County, Ohio and has been a licensed Auctioneer for 42 plus years, selling in multiple states. In 2017, Dean joined the well diversified team of Ed & Ben Schafer, Auctioneers, LLC & Ben Schafer Realty, expert marketers in the fields of Auctions, Land and Residential Properties. As part of the Schafer Teams, Dean is now positioned to better serve past, present and future clients with his years of experience & knowledge in Auctions, Real Estate and Appraisals.
As a young man, Dean became interested in the auction business while living next to a well-known Auctioneer (Bill Janes) in Pennsville, Ohio. At the age of 12, Dean began to pursue his dream by working auctions, running sheets, ringing & other duties. Dean became Licensed shortly after high school.
Dean is community minded and serves as a volunteer fire fighter for the past 38 years. Elected Fire Chief for 7 years and is currently serving as a trustee. A member of the Morgan County Fire-fighter Association where he serves as Past-President. And currently serving on the Embree Park Board as Vice President.
Having been raised in rural Morgan County, Dean took advantage of the FFA, 4-H and Jr. Fair Board in developing his leadership skills while showing cattle and horses. Dean also learned good work ethics, responsibilities and how to respect and treat others. A value that leads to success in life and business. Dean was mentored and influenced by men and women youth leaders showing him the value of investing in the youth. Dean enjoys auctioneering at the Morgan, Meigs and Noble County Jr. Fair Livestock Auctions. In 2019, Dean was highly Honored by the Morgan FFA for his dedication of investing in the youth and supporting their programs, with the Honorary Chapter Degree.
Dean and his wife Patty live in the house Dean was raised in. They have two children. A son, Zach, who is married to Katelynn, and a daughter, Ashley, who is married to Heath. Both have blessed them with 7 beautiful grandchildren. Raising them with the best morals, work ethics and family values parents can give. Both children were also involved in FFA and 4-H, raising and showing sheep while being involved in Team Sports. Zach and Ashley were raised knowing the auction business and continue to work for us today. Both of Dean’s children served in the military, he is very proud to have them serve our country.
